This is not investment advice

NBS Signal Tool is a decision-support screen. It applies a fixed, published rule set to index data and displays the result. It is not the output of a SEBI-registered Research Analyst or Investment Adviser, no recommendation is being made to any person, and no order is ever placed by this software.

The regulatory position

India regulates investment advice. Publishing buy and sell calls can fall under SEBI's Research Analyst Regulations or Investment Adviser Regulations, and that becomes considerably more likely once money changes hands anywhere in the picture. Nothing here is offered for sale, no fee is charged for access, and no personalised recommendation is made to anyone.

A disclaimer is not a licence. This paragraph does not make the tool compliant with anything; it states what the tool is, so that nobody mistakes it for something regulated and supervised.

The risk

  • Index options are leveraged instruments and can lose their entire value, including on a day when your view of the direction was correct.
  • Time decay works against a buyer every single day, including the days nothing happens.
  • The bid-ask spread is a real cost on entry and again on exit, and it is widest in exactly the strikes that look cheapest.
  • Past behaviour of any rule set, measured or not, does not indicate its future behaviour.

What was measured

The rule set on this site was backtested across three years of 15-minute candles and 8,837 signals. It came out roughly break-even before trading costs and negative after brokerage, the option bid-ask and time decay. Its targets are reached about a third of the time. The full account is here. It is published so that it can be checked, not because it is known to work.

Data

Market data is read under your own broker session and is subject to your broker's terms, accuracy and availability. Feeds are delayed, gapped or simply wrong sometimes. The tool marks a stale or missing feed rather than quietly showing you the last thing it knew, but no display can be more correct than the data behind it.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for anything you do with what you see here. If you are unsure whether a financial decision is suitable for you, consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser — which this is not.
